Kihei is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 16,749 at the 2000 census.

Kihei is a beautiful Hawaiian community that rests on the shores of Maui, only 20 miles away from the Kahului Airport. There are several beaches within a short distance of Kihei and the weather here couldn’t be better.
It is quite easy to waste away the day just resting in the soft sands of Kihei’s beaches as you listen to the waves crash on the shoreline. But there is much more to do than just sit around all day! For the avid angler there are plenty of fishing stores that will rent or sell you the gear you need to get out there and catch the big one.
And if you are in the mood for something a little more adventurous, then the charter-fishing guides will take you out to where the really big fish are. When the water is calm the bays here near Kihei can be wonderful spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.
If you would rather not get wet but still enjoy a good challenge, then try out one of the local golf courses. The holes are challenging and the views from the tees and greens can be breathtaking. If that isn’t enough you can always hop in the car and tour the island. There are dozens of historical sites, nature trails, and other villages just waiting to be discovered, all you have to do is find them. With the amount of fun to be had in the Kihei area you can rest assured that your vacation here will be one of your best yet.
